Through the exploration of different poetry styles, students will apply figurative language and/or parts of speech to create their own poetry portfolio. |

Student Objectives 1. Students will identify at least six similes in written form. 2.
Students will utilize at least eight simile key words in
each “as” and
“mix” poem. |

Prerequisite Skills Students will need to know how to chunk thoughts, ending phrases with a noun, know basics of a poem, and what similes are. |

If I say blue as a ... (you fill in the blank)--interactive between sites for a couple examples.Then, let's create an "as" poem together--interactively. Now, there is another kind of poem.
