Overview

     In this poetry unit, students will be introduced to different poetry formats and will apply them in many different activities including figurative language. This unit will take twelve days. The home site will involve sixth graders. It would be great to connect with another sixth grade class, but middle school age is my target audience.  Students will need to know what a poem is, what nouns, adjectives, and verbs are, how to chunk thoughts, and how to conduct small group participation. Please realize that this unit may have changes due to class discussions and/or teacher discretion.
