"Experience" poem

Camping

All of us taking naps before 11:00 p.m. departure
with piles of sweets for the road trip.
we stop to give the horses a break and
singing "He's got the Whole World in His Hands" with my cousins.
during the afternoon we would climb the mountain.
One ride went around the lake another we saw buffalo and yet another to a sand mine.
there were bugs, sunburns, and brushing of the horses.
s'mores to roast and savor around a campfire.
mom making real meals, a rainy day to spend inside the camper, and evening trips to the shower house to feel unearthly.
riding to see Mount Rushmore whether by horseback or by van.
the family time created made for memories to treasure for a lifetime.
